It's hard to believe we are into the 3rd week of school already! The fourth graders are getting used to the routine, assignment books, and homework. They are also doing a great job demonstrating hallway and lunchroom expectations; and being positive role models for our younger students!
In the classroom, we have introduced the theme "journeys" in reading with reading groups starting this week. Each fourth grader will be reading a story about a character going on a journey. We are also reading stories about journeys in the classroom. In science we are busy learning about healthy eating using the new "My Plate" pyramid design - check out http://www.myplate.gov for more resources! Learning about the different types of maps and their features has been our topic in social studies. Get used to seeing the "map packet" in your child's homework folder! Students will be working throughout the year practicing their map skills on all 50 states!

* The popcorn bag book report is not due until Wed. Sept. 28th. Bags and directions have been given to the students but there are also guidelines you can view under the book report tab on this blog
